Angela Keaton - U.K.

SLANT

"For me this is a piece which explores the discordant parts of language.   "Telling it slant" is a quote from Dickinson and a lot of Angela's work is a move towards looking at aspects of that quote.  For me this piece is a move away from the linearity of language towards a visual representation of dialogue and the obscuration of truth.   Angela may well have had a different idea in mind and what I am giving is my reading of this piece which is as valid as any other.   In performance Angela uses sound and rides the lines of sound like lines on this page.  I thought it a stunning poem the first time I saw and heard it being performed and I still do."
