Social Distance

Save for the wind breathing rhythm

into that dancing branch,

it is silent here.

Daffodils waft yellow

as the sun lays its hand

on my skin and strokes.

I could cook curry,

chatter inconsequentially,

laugh uncontrollably.

I need to talk with someone

of past follies

and future foolishness,

dissolve that silence into the Pinot Noir

as we swap words like gifts.
