Gilgamesh abandons his kingdom

 

Grief is a tongue-eating louse, plump parasite

perched in my throat, 

taking half of anything I need.

 

Take these robes. Take this name.

I am no king. This is no city.

Uruk is a cairn.

 

I am a horse with human feet 

            and the plains are before me.
