Poetry Escape

while I read about OHara

I look out my window and see bright shining sun

the silent streets

Chicago skyline

and then the sound of helicopters roaring overhead

monitoring the protesters and the looters

disturbing my silence

creating needless anxiety

the temperature is 29 degrees outside

too hot to be on the streets

for protesting or looting

better safe inside a captive

trying to understand what

modern poetry is all about
