Following retirement from a career in business management, Peter now has more time to write poetry which is published regularly online and in print. Late in 2019 he published his first pamphlet –‘Watcher’ – and is now working on a second collection.

Lockdown

 

Lockdown is a massive door

made of solid weathered oak

with blacksmith-forged iron

furnishing as a proclamation.

A door that speaks of castles

might also whisper dungeon.

 

Lockdown is the unsuspected

dragon that lives at your house.

One minute he’s a normal Dad

the next he’s breathing flames.

And from that moment family

may never really feel the same.

 

Lockdown is a heavy sea-fret

lowering with its drift inland:

foreseeable tomorrows will be

shrouded in that chilling mist.

And forecasters seem fearful

these conditions could persist.
