to study it.

Sitting alone on a bench
with a hot chocolate take-away
tall trees unmasked like
me
no breath to disturb even
their top-most spars
sky off-white like a vest
lazily
washed too many times with
coloureds,
I remember other happy winter
days
kicking up the leaves
in damp winter woods
where old ladies wear gloves
and hats
but young lads on bikes
never do.
