About the course
Part 1 develops observation, clarity of language and individual technique through set exercises, discussions, critique sessions, tutor notes and feedback. It introduces a range of poetic forms and styles, and practical considerations involved in editing, reading and preparing poems for publication.
What you will explore
Poetic structure; contemporary poetry; transparency and authenticity; writing free-form poetry; lines and stanza structures; modern form and structure; editing; traditional forms; and poetry markets and getting published.
Who can join
No formal qualifications are required. The course is intended for poets who want to explore and develop their writing and are interested in improving their craft.
Individual guidance and feedback
The course combines guided study and practical writing tasks with personal feedback on your poems. Poetry Kit courses are delivered by email, so you can study wherever you are.
